‘Why is Bridgerton’s race twisting acceptable?’ The real problem with the show’s Black fantasy | Television | The Guardian

I found this article very interesting because I really love the Bridgerton (Queen Charlotte) series and however I do not see a huge issue with changing the race of those involved in its history as it is fiction inspired by fact. I think they have worked actors of colour in very well to the ‘terribly white space of costume drama.’ 

The reason people are getting frustrated with the Bridgerton series is because in Queen Charlotte, racism is portrayed to be ‘fixed’ through a party that Charlotte and George hold at the start of the season, however that was not the case and at the time of which the show is set, the brutal mechanics of the slave trade was in full swing. So historically the show isn’t accurate, although it never states it is 100% correct.

Mirror and Express publisher Reach to axe 200 roles in £30m cost-cutting drive | Reach (formerly Trinity Mirror) | The Guardian

Reach PLC has suffered greatly from the lack of shares on advertising after Black Friday and Christmas, meaning that they haven’t had enough cash flow. This has led to Reach having to let 200 roles go because the cost cut of £30m is so significant for them.

This can easily damage the media industry for Reach and may alter their reputation. More than 1000 journalists went on strike, this is unreliable for the newspaper and will likely affect future newspapers too, seeing as print news has declined notably over time.

I personally think if AI were to take over our TV, radio and theatre shows, there wouldn’t be such an emotional connection to them anymore. This is because it will seem too cliche and it wouldn’t hold such a humane feeling and could lose audience.

I definitely do not want AI and robots to do this job because one of my favourite forms of entertainment are theatre shows, which most definitely could not be done using AI because they need real people to act it out.

However, considering actors and directors have recently gone on strike it is likely they will try and use ai in the future.
